ISO 45001 Lead Auditor Certification

Param Personnel Certification Body (PPCB) provides ISO 45001 Lead Auditor personnel certification for individuals who demonstrate competence to plan, conduct, lead and report Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) management system audits against ISO 45001.

This is a personnel certification scheme aligned with ISO/IEC 17024. It is not a training course and it is not certification of organisations.

What is ISO 45001?

ISO 45001 is an international standard for Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems (OH&S MS). It sets requirements that organisations use to manage OH&S risks and improve OH&S performance.

Audits against ISO 45001 evaluate how effectively an organisation’s OH&S management system meets ISO 45001 requirements.

What is ISO 45001 Lead Auditor Certification?

ISO 45001 Lead Auditor Certification is recognition that an individual has demonstrated the competence required to lead and manage ISO 45001 audits, including audit planning, team leadership, audit execution, evidence evaluation, and reporting.

This certification recognises auditor competence. It does not certify an organisation’s management system and does not confirm completion of training.

This certification is intended for individuals who perform OH&S management system audits, including:

Applicants are expected to meet defined requirements for knowledge, audit competence and relevant professional experience.

What the certification covers?

The certification covers competence relating to:

ISO 45001 requirements and OH&S management system auditing principles
Audit planning and preparation (including audit objectives, scope and criteria)
Leading an audit team and managing audit activities
Collecting and evaluating audit evidence
Reporting audit findings and audit conclusions
Professional conduct and ethical behaviour expected of auditors

How the certification process works?

The certification process follows a defined structure:

Application & eligibility review
Competence-based assessment and/or examination (as defined by the scheme)
Assessment review
Independent certification decision
Issue of certification (time-limited validity)
Recertification in line with scheme requirements

Assessment and decision

Assessment may include a written examination and review of competence evidence (such as audit experience records and other documented evidence required by the scheme).

Certification decisions are made by authorised decision-makers independent of the assessment function, in accordance with documented procedures.
